“MeMe, why do you have all those crosses on your wall?” Madison asked as she walked into the room.
MeMe was just putting the finishing touches on her bed. Smoothing out the last corner, she looked up at the wall where she hung eleven crosses of various designs and sizes. Above each one was a picture and below was a scripture.
“Well, baby, every time I look at that wall, I begin thanking God for each one of my children and grandchildren and for each one’s salvation. And then I begin to confess good things over each one of you from the scriptures.”
“What kind of good things, MeMe?”

Madison remembered that her MeMe had the sweetest smile on her face and the loving way she looked at each cross and picture.

“Well, let’s see. Let’s take you for example,” she said tickling Madison and then giving her an affectionate hug. “The scripture God gave me for you is John 4:35. I wrote it down in the New Living Translation: Do you think the work of harvesting will not begin until the summer ends four months from now? Look around you! Vast fields are ripening all around us and are ready now for the harvest.”
“God told you that!” Madison screwed up her nose and looked at her grandmother with a measure of curiosity and faith only a child could muster. “He talks to you?”
“He sure does. It is kind of like when you have butterflies in your stomach. Just think of His voice as that fluttery feeling inside you and then a thought pops right into your head. And you just know that you know it is God telling you something. So you listen to your heart and thoughts and, bingo, you know what He is saying to you.”
“What does mine mean?”
“Well, I have a pretty good idea, but I just think we’ll wait to tell you. That way when it happens, you’ll know it was God and not me putting the idea in your head. Okay? Let’s let Him surprise you.”
“Okay. I sure hope my butterflies are the ones that tickle and not the ones that make me sick.”
“Silly girl,” MeMe said as she kissed Madison’s cheek.
“But MeMe there is one for you, too.”
“Absolutely!” exclaimed MeMe as she put her arm around Madison, and they sat down on the bed.
“Why?” Madison was fascinated by the gleam in MeMe’s eye.
“Well, because every promise in that Bible is for me, too, and I intend to grab on to every one of them. If we don’t believe that we have everything in God’s Word for ourselves, then why did Jesus die?
“I don’t know. Why did He die?” she asked so innocently.
“Oh, now you are asking the right question!”
MeMe explained the story of how Jesus was born, lived, died on the cross, was resurrected, and now lives forevermore. Madison had listened intently to every word.

“Madison! Are you coming out here? We’re about to bless the food, and everyone wants the chance to visit with you before you leave.”
“Sure, Mom, I’ll be there in a second.”
Madison stood up and laid her grandmother’s Bible on the foot of the bed. She turned and looked at MeMe’s picture above the big cross in the center.
“Well, MeMe, I guess we both know what He meant now, don’t we? I just wish you were here to see me off for my mission assignment.” She looked up at the ceiling. “Well, I guess you are here, aren’t you, and this way, you’ll be there with me, too.”
Tears started to form in her eyes as she closed her eyes to picture her grandmother standing next to Jesus in heaven. Suddenly she smiled and giggled, “That tickles, God!”
