With sugar, no sugar, stevia, honey, Splenda.
No cream, light cream, flavored cream, black.
Decaf, French vanilla, regular, dark roast.
All separate ingredients that can and do exist on their own. Bringing one two or even three of them together, creates what some consider “morning fuel” to start a purpose-filled day.
And what about the vessel of choice? Favorite verse mug, travel mug, souvenir mug, china cup and saucer; this could take a while!
We are all individuals uniquely created with a personalized mission from God. Our mission, “if we choose to accept it” (que the Mission Impossible theme song), is to balance, through humility our individuality to His will and leading by His Spirit, to come along side those in need of what we have been gifted with. Believer in Christ or not, everyone has need of each other.
As we move through our day, we glean perspectives and skills, by observations and interactions that, after winnowing, we can grow from. It is imperative to have a healthy review of our mission but always anchored to the Voice of God to stay the course so as not to compare ourselves to other’s ministry. The enemy of our soul is always ready to serve his bitter brew of envy with the sole purpose to isolate and discourage, and ultimately quit.
Growth can’t happen in insolation. Something must be provided; sustenance. This more than applies to the living Body of Christ, because that is all of us. “Getting fed” is our responsibility by being in the Word privately as well as coming together corporately insuring fellowship with God the Father, the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ and each other. Beyond friendships, these relationships have a spiritual mission to help others as we help ourselves. Physical and spiritual needs are met as we become the hands and feet of our Father God.
Most companies have a mission statement that concisely states “why am I here” and to take this one step further, most companies also have a vision statement that expands on the mission statement by adding “what I want to bring to the community I serve”.
If we think of the Body of Christ as a corporation, the mission is the same; to love our neighbor as ourselves and serve Christ to meet needs. Again, like any corporation there are many departments that fulfill the mission. Ours might have “Visiting the sick”, Feeding the Hungry” “Encouraging the Lonely” to name a few. Our vision statement would be each believer’s names ending with one or more “department “ association!
Oh, look at the time! The Staff meeting is about to start. Grab a refill and come before the CEO (Christ Eternal Overseer) with me. We are always better together. (inspired by Ecclesiastes 4:9-12)
