It was going to be hard but he was up to it. After all, he was a blessed man, he had made millions and was considered a success, but this was different. This time he was going up against unknown foes; haters, many of whom had murder in their hearts. His mission was a good one but on the way he would have to tread carefully, using stealth, wisdom and accuracy in both word and deed.

Thanks to God for a praying wife and support groups, but he was the spearhead.
"The 'buck stops here'" he felt in his soul. The flying bullets would hit him first. He represented the political party. They wanted to win and he was the chosen man of the hour!
"No, I am not vain!" he often said to himself.
"I do need constant prayer from my brothers and sisters as I go into this fight."

We could be speaking of so many of our leaders, past and current. However, I see parallels to Jesus. He was blessed! The Only Son of God and the long-awaited Messiah. His main enemy was the most evil being and he would go to any means to destroy him. Father sent Him on this earth mission to save His people who had been stolen by that evil snake.

So, in humility and obedience to His Father, He came as a human baby. A long-promised One, born of a virgin of the tribe of David in the village of Bethlehem. At the age of thirty, the first attack on Him came after his baptism by John and a forty-day fast. " Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil."{Luke 4:1-14 NIV}
The enemy thought he would be at his weakest, so he tried to tempt him. John the Evangelist in his epistle categorized these temptations as "lust of eyes" (materialism), "lust of body" (hedonism) and "pride of life" (egoism). Jesus, He was the Spearhead. He would not fail and he did not. He lived among fallen man and was eventually crucified but He rose again. He was God and not just a man.

Like our first man in the story, Jesus was already a success when he entered the arena of battle with his enemy; He was and is unbeatable. He was and is successful. He won us back to the Kingdom of God; 'by grace, we are saved, not by grace, lest anyone should boast' {Ephesians 2:9 NIV}
