parents, are who I speak of as they
they warned, how it knocks loudly
although more presistently on the doors
of those of stubborn and idealistic nature
or those aimless travelers
of the open road and beautiful soul
I reminisce of it's appearance
around nineten hundred
and seventy two when it came
knock...knock...knocking
on my door.....begging
responsibility, commitment, maturity
the door must have been rigged
for reckless and sensational innocence
sent me chasing dreams
traversing city to city, coast to coast
in search of a more promising self
urgent desires
conveniently labeled "daily miracles",
took precedence, rebuking adulthood
nonreceptive to wisdom or knowledge
wanderlust knew no boundaries
until one day the haunting temptations of the world
delivered it's gripping verdict
discouraged, dismayed, diappointed
knock....knock....knock
the door opened and it entered
overflowing with education, career,
home, children, family, wisdom, knowledge,
community, grandchildren, retirement,
and the One true Daily Miracle of adulthood
