For you have fervently prayed the souls of thousands through
When I was your little girl, I often caught you crying
But no matter what the situation, you never stopped trying.
Your first-born child, Bettye, she was not expected to live
But you spoke to God saying, “This child to You, I’ll give”
So God spared the premature babe, healed and made her well
God has always intervened for you—for you, He’ll never fail.
For you have suffered sorrowfulness, pain, toil and trouble
Because of your fiery faithfulness, Father has blessed you double!
You’ve conducted many holy revivals for years from week to week
And God uses you miraculously, yet you’re humble and meek.
Sinners, they’ve seen visions of you, lovingly warning men
Those men became them, as they were delivered free from sin
Now they stand in churches, as pastors and children of God
They all still call you Mother, for leading them to the Lord.
Your faith’s like that of Deborah’s, of courage having no fear
From great danger, you rescued Perry, your son so very dear
You rushed into the house on fire, it swiftly burning down
Only a Saint can do this - you made it out safe and sound.
That night, before the terrible fire, I saw you sitting there
Reading your holy bible, my little eyes gave you a stare
You did not notice me standing there, I was only age three
When you guided Perry to holiness, after that awful tragedy.
You have Queen Esther’s wisdom, disciple Tabitha’s skill
The beauty of Lady Sarah, and a righteousness that’s real
God gave you visions, Mother, when you were very small
The little lamb at your feet - ‘twas God’s confirming call.
When I was severely ill, and the doctors gave me up to die
“God, spare her, take me instead!” are the words of my Mother’s cry
There’s no one else quite like you, Mom, No, not any other
You’re truly awesome, Love, you’re much more than a mother!
