CRAFT - TOOLS OF THE TRADE
A craft could be a sailing vessel or a boat. Or it could be something that I make, like arts and crafts. A craft could also be a trade, like an electrician, plumber, or carpenter...
I, myself, have never been the crafty type. I wish I were crafty. But I guess I have to accept the gifts that God gives me and not wish for more than that.
Then again, I guess writing could be considered a craft (If I did have to search high and low for a craft). And I'm actually doing that right now.
So if I were “challenged” about “craft” (as if that would ever happen…), I could at least write about crafts or someone else's crafts, maybe. But how do you write about crafts or crafting when you don't have the slightest clue about them? Or how they are done?
That makes me wonder if I can even use my craft (the one that I just now made up – Lol…), to explain someone else's craft. I guess that I can try, but I probably wouldn't get very far. Unless I study the craft first or talk to the one who crafts to learn what he does and how and why he does it.
It seems like the next step would be to choose a craft and/or a crafter to write about. I haven't studied anything since high school, except the Bible. I have been to Bible study.
Years ago, at church, when we had 24/7 prayer, I wrote a station called "What I Love About God". It was a reflection station about some of the wondrous creations in nature, like the caterpillar turned butterfly.
Now—there is a Craftsman to write about!
If I do try, I should at least explain my deficiencies first. Any writer plying their “craft” would instantly have the same deficiencies when writing about the crafting of the universe anyways.
So I might just as well confess it up front: Oh woe is me! Wretched writer/crafter that I am! Who will deliver me from this lack of… ability to write about this... Craftsman?
Let me see… Where would I start? The only thing to do is to rely on the Craftsman Himself by looking at the Work He's done, His Manual, and the Tools that He uses. So I guess that I will start there. After all, the Manual says that everything He created testifies.
One of my favorite verses in the Craftsman's Manual is about how “He counts the stars and He names them all!“ Psalm 147:4: NASB 1977.
Whoa! An estimated 2 trillion galaxies (just in the observable universe alone), with billions of stars in each galaxy, and He names them all?
Mind blown!
Stop the presses! I’m done! (Or should I say… UN-done!)
With just that one observation alone, any seeking or willing heart will have already gotten my point about the Craftsman.
As Job said when he was in the whirlwind: I will shut my mouth…
But before I do that, do you mind if I mention my favorite Tool that the Craftsman ever used?
