Flying from flower to flower.
Seeking and finding nectar in petals that call to them.
They have a busy working life and they are never still.
So when you take a sip of honey, remember the hard workers.
In my kitchen
A line of black invades on legs so fast.
I trace them to the nest and see. Surprise, surprise.
Hundreds of dark heads are working away at a pile of rotting food.
God made them to work, to build nests and lay eggs.
On the highway
A red SUV chasing itself.
Past me and many others as it heads to the exit ahead.
Determined to be first in line or maybe going nowhere
but driving much too fast.
Up in the sky.
Look down and see cumulus clouds working in unison
Obeying God's commands to move.
Above them are jet planes and rockets
controlled by humans and performing a task.
Far away on city streets are humans on foot or travelling in trains,
cars and trams on meaningful purposeful journeys.
In my heart
It loves to rest but at times I am so busy
sewing, cooking, cleaning, walking or working.
But I long for the sweet peace that is found on a country lane
and comes when I am in the secret place.
It’s a place to hear and seek and find Him,
or to sit at His feet like Mary did.
