“We’ve been through so much together!
I will never, ever, deny you, I promise!
How can I forget the look in your eyes -
When you called me and gave me new life?
How can I forget your miracles?
You healed the sick
You fed the crowds
You let me walk on water.
How can I ever deny you?
Where would I go without you?
You alone have the words of life.
You took us up the mountain
and showed us your glory.
I just cannot deny you.”
“Before the cock crows at dawn
You will deny me three times”.

What was I afraid of?
How could I deny him?
Not once, not twice, but three times!
My tears flow day and night
It’s too late for regrets
It’s too late to be forgiven
All my promises
All my self-assurance
All my willpower is crushed.
I was drawn to the warmth of the fire
To the stew-cooking Roman soldiers
I went too close –
Thought I would be close to him
Thought I could rescue him from pain
So foolish
So blind
He warned me before
My thoughts were from Satan
Not thoughts from God
God’s Messiah must die
I did not understand why.
My tears keep flowing
The look in his eyes
When the led him away
Was full of compassion
But now it's too late.

Life must go on
I’ll go back to my boats
He stands on the shore
And calls me again
Three times he asks me
If my love still is true
He renews my calling
He’ll take me through…
