And sat at a restaurant to eat.
I said, “I am hungry, so please fill my plate,”
She brought me a bowl of conceit.
I said, “What is this you have put in this bowl,
It’s not what I ordered from you”?
She said, “I gave something I see in your soul,
So this should be nothing new”.
“What do you mean, I don’t understand”,
I haughtily snapped in her face.
“What did you see that gave you this plan,
To treat with such utter disgrace”.
“You walked in the door like you owned the store,
Giving orders like we were your slaves.
I knew at that moment you were looking for more,
It was your ego that needed the raves”.
“It wasn’t the food you were searching for,
It wasn’t the taste of the pie.
The words you were using said so much more,
I heard the question, “why”?”
“Why is your life not the way that you want,
Why is your heart filled with pain?
Why does your past give you memories to haunt,
It wasn’t this food that brought rain”.
“Why don’t you take time to give this some thought,
And I’ll bring your menu of choice.
It isn’t just food that you really have bought,
But wisdom from God’s own voice”.
It’s not just the words coming forth from our lips.
It’s not just the hand movement , flow.
Real communication will bring us some tips,
And breakdown might help us to grow.
