Dear Journal,
Tomorrow is the big day. I finally get to meet my best friend in person. It’s hard to believe Kristahl and I have never met. We’ve done so much together. We talk for hours, we read together, we play games together, we shop together and, once, she visited my church. But, I’ve never actually met her.
I’m SO excited. And I’m so nervous. What if she thinks I’m weird? I must admit that I do have some weird habits, like writing in this journal. Even Dad thinks I’m weird to handwrite stuff. I guess I just feel more connected to my writing when I use a pen and paper instead of my little Handheld.
Well, time for prayer meeting now. I’ll have to ask them to pray that I get a chance to share Jesus with Kristahl. I wish more than anything, that she would share my love for Him.

Kezia closed her notebook, and turned to the 42-inch screen on the wall. “Prayer meeting” she said. The screen was immediately filled with familiar faces. Kezia checked her hair in the mirror beside the screen before speaking again. “Camera on.”
Kezia saw her own face join the grouped faces on the screen. She cherished this time of sharing and praying with her church family from around the world.

Kezia dropped her book and ran when she heard the door-chimes the next morning. As she neared the door she swiped her thumb across a small screen set in the wall. The door slid open smoothly revealing the familiar face of Kristahl.
Kristahl let out a little shriek of joy and threw her arms around Kezia. “I’m so glad to finally be here. Hey, you’re taller than I thought you were.”
“Actually, I think you’re just shorter than you realised.” Kezia laughed as she ushered Kristahl inside. “Have a wander around if you like. I’ll get a drink. It’s black tea with no sweetener, isn’t it?”
Kristahl nodded as she gazed around Kezia’s multimedia room.
Much of the room was familiar to Kristahl. She had seen it thousands of times whilst talking to Kezia, but it had always been ‘background’ and she hadn’t paid much attention to it. She stood in the middle of the room, turning slowly as she took in all the details.
“It’s so different to actually be here, not just watching you through my itty bitty 25-inch screen.” Kristahl continued talking as she wandered around the room, pausing to look at different things. She stopped beside the large bookcase, overflowing with Kezia’s treasured collection of books.
“Wow! When you told me you collected books, I kind of assumed you’d have a few, like maybe ten or fifteen, but this collection must be worth a fortune.”
Kezia smiled as she answered from the kitchen. “I know. Dad laughs at me for collecting books. He wonders why I have them cluttering up a whole wall when I can just download them. I can’t help it though. I just love to hold a book in my hands and … I dunno, I like the feel and the smell and the … Well, I guess it just feels more personal than reading a screen or listening to someone else read it to me.”
“You are kind of weird,” came Kristahl’s reply from the other room. “I’ve been downloading books from a great library in Germany. Most of them are in German, but I just put the translator on and listen to them while I’m working.”
As Kezia entered with their drinks, she saw Kristahl standing by the fish tank, tapping the glass.
“Something’s wrong with your fish,” she said. “They don’t follow my finger when I touch the screen. Do you want me to check the program for you?”
Kezia laughed this time. “Nothing’s wrong. They’re real fish, not animated one’s. It’s just another of my idiosyncrasies. I like to have some ‘real’ stuff around. I have real plants too. I have to care for them on a daily basis, and it helps me to remember that God takes care of us too.”
“Actually,” Kristahl turned to face Kezia, “I’ve got something to tell you. I’ve been doing some research on this God you’re always talking about. I’ve even talked to Pastor Steve from your church. Last night I finally saw the big picture and, well… I’ve accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour too.”
