Topic: Teacher (10/26/06)
Teaching the word of God is a gift which is earnest business and has eternal consequences. Teaching is a gift given to an individual by God as it is written in the Scriptures, “Now you are the body of Christ and each one of you is a part of it and in the church God has appointed first the apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also having gifts of administration and those speaking different kinds of tongues”. (1st Corinthians 12: 27-28 NIV).
To be an effective teacher of the Word of God you need the active presence of the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit teaches one about the truth of word of God. In John 14:26 (NIV), ‘But the counselor, the Holy Spirit whom the father will send in my name will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have send to you’.Also to be an effective teacher starts on bended knees, you must pray for God’s guidance on how to espouse on the word of God. You must pray for guidance for the lesson preparation and also for those you teach An effective teacher must have learn from God in other to be able to teach and must also be reliable as we see in the letter of Paul to Timothy where he said, ‘And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. (2Timothy 2:2 NIV).A teacher of the word of God must at every opportunity proclaim and teach that the Word of God that his listeners will not just listen but practice what they have heard, ‘We proclaim him admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. (Colossians 1:28 NIV). It is pertinent to note that a teacher of the word of God must possess an interesting personality so as not to bore his listeners, he must be a patient listener, be conscious of the reaction of his listeners and allow his class members to contribute, give them practical steps to practice every week and encourage his class members to share their experience in practicing the word of God and proffer needed advise an act of providing of instructions; guidance in practical or theoretical ways to help build a good Christian life.

What I like- you have given truths with scriptures to back up. Nice information.

What I might change - You should break up your paragraphs for easier reading. Try separating your ending for impact. I think you might want to work on a better one as the last line is a continuation of the paragraph.
A little intro with a story or blurb also might create more interest and be an example of the teaching you are doing. As a reader - I want to be given examples with the scripture. Thanks for writing this!:)

I'm with Terri here. I would like to add perhaps typing your piece and using spell check in Word or something like it. Remember, spell check only tells you if a word is spelled wrong, not if it's the wrong word to use. You'll also be able to catch where you've missed punctuation. A good book to use to help you with knowing which words to use would be, 'Words you thought you knew by Jenna Glatzer'
