Sinking is the setting sun,
so is my heavy heart.
Parched my soul of any praise,
I feel so set apart.
Desert heat absorbs all joy--
hot sand beneath my feet.
I’ve been all-forsaken;
I long for manna sweet.
“Where are You, Great Deliverer?”
My shouts the wind repeals.
Silence stings my arid skin,
as answers He conceals.
Not until my prideful legs
collapse to stature, prone;
it’s only on my humbled knees
I fall down at His throne:
“Father God, I know not why
You’ve sent me to this place.
But, I know it’s for my good
and I shall run the race.
Send to me, lush Brooks of Grace,
within this barren land--
Oasis, in the wilderness,
so fashioned by Your hand.
Be my stay ‘til journey’s end.
Lord, may I ever cling,
to Your Robe of Mercy,
abiding there ‘til spring.
Gentle breeze breaks sultry air
to kiss my thirsty soul.
I smile toward the Heavens
knowing Who is in control.
Full glory to the Father,
whose ways are all-supreme.
I now can praise You wholly,
for You are my Desert Stream!”
“…In the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.”
Isaiah 35:6
