Topic: HARVEST (11/21/19)
I live in a community that is over evangelised, yet the brokenness is overwhelming. Our people know about Jesus, but most do not live as if they do. We have numerous Christian non-profit organizations, churches, and we are basically a missions field town. I witness daily people who want “silver and gold” from those bringing the good news, not as much The Light we carry. Of course, the way missions and sharing the gospel has been brought has paralysed to a large extend and created the lens for which messengers of the gospel are seen.

My heart is that, the LORD will help the indigenous or local missionaries to disciple our society. Even though we have an over evangelised community, the souls are still hungry and thirsty for the Living Waters. With all resources at hand, when the LORD resend us to the same community, I did not see the need knowing that this particular community is spoilt with labourers. Yet the LORD nudged silently in my heart,
“The forsaken, forgotten, unimportant, unseen, and voiceless need to hear the message, need to see my messenger. The harvest is yet so great, and I need you back in that community. Now not as much as you thought before, but I am calling you on behind the scenes, in the deep waters where on the surface you wouldn’t know there is a school of fish. But, trust me dear daughter, where you don’t see the great harvest, where there seems to be enough messengers, I have more dying daily without being reconciled to me.”

Sometimes, we look with naked eyes and assume all is well with people around us. That our systems and people do not need The Light we carry. We conclude that we have shared enough, much has been done, showed and lived out well for people to have had the opportunity to know Christ, and if they did not, it is obvious they have made their choice. But what if we asked the LORD about our neighbours, our relatives, our colleagues, the orphans and homeless, the teens and elderly, those who want nothing to do with Christians or Christianity, and whatever group that you might be unaware of?

I promise we would be surprised what a great harvest we have just under our nose. We would be pleasantly surprised to know that The Light we carry can easily set alight the harvest so great! That all we who call ourselves followers of Christ are commissioned just an arm away. That we have an opportunity daily to make disciples for Christ and we can live purposefully and passionately bringing the harvest in the Kingdom.

May the LORD open our hearts, eyes, ears, and arms to the great harvest around!

Interesting concept. I guess it would be like the starving children in our own community, rather than the 3rd world country.

The church that I attend realized this concept a few years ago...we we're, and still are, sending a lot of money to other countries but we weren't doing a lot to help those right around us. We're doing a lot better at that now.
