Pauline is a beautiful woman whose confidence is only out-shined by her inner strength. Her natural curly brown hair spreads half way down her back, wrapping around her shoulders like a shroud of glory. The genuine quality of heart she possesses is remarkable considering the life she had lived. Pauline exudes the kind of joy we all wish we could find but are too caught up in life’s troubles to embrace.
Hiding in plain sight, he observes her every move, being patient to not strike too soon. He was taught a long time ago to study his prey before pouncing prematurely. She was a real threat to the Boss’ global agenda and he was honored to be the chosen one to take her down. “I’m watching you little lady and I have such plans for you!”
After a long day with her publisher, Pauline headed home. Her leukemia was out of remission and was taking a toll on her physically. Climbing into bed, her thoughts immediately turned to her Lord. “Oh Father, what a day this has been! Lots of little things have gone wrong and I’m just so tired. No matter how weak I get, I will never stop praising You for all You have done. I know I have said it a million times but thank you for rescuing me off of the streets from a life of bondage to a life of freedom. Thank you from taking me from a life living on the streets as a runaway child to a life I am really proud of. Only You could do that and I love You for it. I’m ready to come home when you call for me!” Pauline has said this prayer or many just like it ever since the day she accepted Christ as her Savior. He truly had picked her out of this world’s muddy entanglement and placed her safely on to the Rock of ages.
Excited to see her crawl into bed as she wrenched in pain, he began plotting his next moves. The work she is doing could ruin so many things for his Boss and he found it exhilarating to figure out how to put a stop to it. This was clearly his most important undertaking to date and he would not accept failure.
Restless in her sleep, Pauline moaned and woke up to her own shouting of “I am not afraid! Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world!” She had been having a lot of nightmares that involved spiritual warfare, but this was different. It was more intense and more real than a dream should be. That only pushed her to pray even more!
Lurking in the shadows, he continued to plot ways to bring havoc to his target in hopes that she gave up the fight and died in his menacing arms. His goal ultimately was to cause her enough struggles that she would turn her back on the God she loved. His Boss saw him losing ground and sent in reinforcements, but it was too late. The room filled with angels and he and all of his comrades had to flee as they escorted her with pomp and circumstance to be with her Heavenly Father.
Hanging his head in failure, he faced his Boss. He knew that even in death, her legacy carried on in the stories she published about her transformation. Those simple words on paper put his Boss’ entire itinerary at risk by the life’s they would continue to touch. And his Boss hated these kinds of failures because they rippled throughout his kingdom at a pace he couldn’t keep up with. Salvation would snatch so many of his intended targets right out of his evil hands and he knew it. Despite his unscrupulous plotting, the light that lived in Pauline will illuminate throughout the world and he will be unable to extinguish it.
