Unknowing moon, rising again,
Casting my shadow before the eyes of men.
Why do you steal my nights of reprieve?
When the darkness hides me,
My shame is relieved.
I should justly be held an object of distain.
For He was placed upon me, to cause His pain.
Instead, I’m embellished in jewelry and in shrine
Bestowed a sacred honor,
Not intended to be mine.
Created a seed, that spurred my life.
From sapling to tree, without worry or strife,.
I bore the axe, not knowing my fate,
Aspiring to be a mantle,
A wall or a gate.
But, I was fashioned by others, to cause torment and grief,
To the Innocent One, who brought man’s relief.
To bear the same holes, that pierced hands and feet.
To be stained with the blood,
That brought death’s defeat..
No choice in the matter, no voice of my will.
I was destined to be carried and placed on that hill.
Symbolizing the debt, man no longer pays,.
A pardon complete,
With no end of days.
Please forgive my remorse for this unsought fame.
You are joyously forgiven, I bear the shame.
So remember you must in whatever way,
But never, ever forget
The cost of that day.
