Example: I once was a drummer in a band and my desires were to play music. God changed my desires; I am now going to Bible College and desire to serve and minister to the body, assisting them in the discovery of the truths in the word. I had been a Christian for years playing music. However, my desires changed according to God’s purpose, not mine. If God had not changed my desires, I would still be in the clubs playing music. However, God has me in the body encouraging the brethren. This is something I had no plan doing. Therefore as we trust in the Lord, He does give us the desires of our heart. However, or desires change according to His will not ours.
In closing let me just clarify this. Our desires change as we draw closer to God. Although the things we want to do may be good, often times when true change occurs, we end up desiring to be about our Father’s business and not ours.
