I walked to a place where the trees are tall and green. Where paths took me by patches of flowers that led me to an area where children played. There were benches to sit, to watch the children play, read, people watch, or to be quiet and pray. I had no book to read, only a pad and pencil to draw.
I drew the shapes of what the children played on, the trees, the flowers, and the paths. I will show the picture to the lady teaching the American language, to name the items the children played on, and the place I spent my day.
It was good to find this peaceful and lively place in the neighborhood I now lived in in the United States.
I left to walk home when the sun was trading places with the moon. I will tell my husband of my adventure and hope he would come with me one day where I will return often to spend time and draw.
A posting from my great grand-mother’s journal.
