Topic: Search Engine (10/06/11)
Our world has been revolutionized by the creation of the Internet. We all spend a portion of our day at our home computers paying bills, checking e-mail, communicating with friends and family on social sites, playing games, and looking up information. The speed at which we can access knowledge with a few clicks is mind-boggling and powerful.

“Google it” has become a common phrase in our collective lingo, and we are all familiar with the Google search engine. You can Google anything: Why do roosters crow anytime of the day? Why are glaciers melting? Why do socks disappear in the dryer? The whys are endless, and the answers are at your fingertips.

Internet search engines are also useful for doing research on any topic imaginable, from history to medical issues to taking care of pets. Any information we desire is attainable with a computer. The ease with which we can learn about the world around us is amazing.

But what if we could create the ultimate search engine, one that would seek out the answers to life’s most challenging questions? Why can’t I find my one true love? Why can’t I have a baby? Why can’t I find a job? Or perhaps more importantly, we could ask the questions involving what: What can I do for my neighbor who is suffering? What can I do to help the children in my town who don’t have enough to eat? What can I do to help the homeless find a better life? These soul searching questions are endless. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to type these heartfelt queries onto the screen, click search and receive an answer to these difficult questions that keep us up at night?

If I knew anything about computer technology, software and the like I would attempt to create this incredible tool. This search engine would need a special name. Remember the acronym that became popular a few years back” WWJD? What would Jesus do? Type in your questions and instantly receive the best knowledge possible. After all, this should be the measure by which we evaluate all of our decisions.

With our operating system, we could link up all of Jesus’s words from the Bible, using them to evaluate whatever issue a person enters in the search engine, thus giving them an answer that is in keeping with how Jesus would have us live. His example would guide us.

This all seems very familiar. I don’t think we need a fancy operating system like Windows to help us search for these answers. I think this kind of search mechanism already exists in our hearts, placed there by a loving and gracious God. We need only read His words, and keep them in our hearts and minds and then when these difficult questions arise in life, He will help us find our way to His answers.

I like how you refer to Jesus as our search engine. It is so true. Thank you for reminding us about that.

It would help the reader a bit better if you tried using space between paragraphs. Make sure you double check for comma's. It looked like there could have been some more in some sentences.

It might be good to also pick one or two examples and relate them to us in a story,or event. I work on this myself all the time. It is very useful in the show vs. tell process.

I agree with the show versus tell version. A little too muc fact and not enough visualization. I love the concept tho.
On topic for sure, good start and finish.
We will always need that reminder to come away from the computer and come away with HIM. Thanks.

I enjoyed this entry, and I am so pleased to see that many of the writer's refer to Jesus as the "Search Engine" for all of our needs, and wants.

I really enjoyed this and its great message! Isn’t it funny, God’s "ultimate" search engine was in place way before the internet but people don’t seem near as excited in asking God as they do running to the net for answers. I really love the ending of this too, about keeping God’s word ready to pull from our heart and mind when needed! It is so true! I can’t tell you the times a scripture has come to me exactly when needed! And there may come a day that stored information will be all we have access to!! Nice job on the topic - I thoroughly enjoyed the read!

I liked the little touches of humor in what could be a dry read. Especially agree with the mention of the Bible because it directs us to its author for our personal answers by showing us examples through the experiences of so many Biblical persons. Well done.

Very nice treatment of the topic! Our 750 word limit means we need to get quickly to the point. We all know so much about what the internet has to offer that I wasn't engaged until the fourth paragraph. But that part grabbed me.

Nice job. You've got me singing that old song, "Jesus is the answer for the world today, Above Him there's no other, Jesus is the way..."
