Excited serving Top Dog first I felt
Then proud, soon pompous, later pernicious
My life was turned three hundred sixty fast
Ignored my wife, my friends, my ethics all
Bewitched by power, rules do not apply
I too like him to the same flaw succumb
Perhaps You have to cope with human pride
We may allow ego to shape the core
Humility before God instead has ceased
You start to feel so proud and great inside
Begins the work of selfish pride within
Unclogged, the ear that hears, accepts rebukes
It’s like the wise who build on solid ground
The fools dismiss advice or wholesome truth
Reject the truth will mean despise our soul
You’d better heed the counsel You’ll be wise
Don’t shun a friend or family of yours
As they may give us some reproof at times
We find good guidance from the Book of Life
Perhaps we’ve been ignoring God’s still voice
Our pride declares, I think, no need
The wise warn us, Be Humble - heed and live
Sincere rebukes we must never refuse
Or else our hearts will harden very soon
Follow the Word of God and His wise way
By grace defeat the egocentric self
His Spirit lives in us, eyes fixed above

"meters" or anything else related to the correct terminology...so all I can comment is on my feelings from reading poetry overall, and this one moved me greatly.
Great message!
God bless~
