A sorrowful heart cried out.
“Is there any way I can escape this fate,
Or must these events come about?”
“Have a vivid look, my Son,
Inside this cup you hold.
Take my hand as I show you,
Why now you must be so bold.
A trip to the past, my Son,
It is the first place we observe.
Can you see our creation there,
And their world we longed to preserve?
But alas! They fell to an evil plot,
And the humans we made were lost.
How little they knew this mistake they made,
To eradicate should have such a cost.
Looking now to the present,
To those waiting for your birth.
Waiting for the Christ to come,
To bring redemption to the Earth.
They have high hopes in your salvation,
Which was promised to them long ago.
They await for you to rise as King;
This present evil world to overthrow.
Of course there is the future, Son,
A fairly grim place to behold.
A generation that needs you most-
For their world is dark and cold.
Precious children are murdered on each new day;
Sickness and disease run rampant.
Anger and hate destroy innocent life,
And greed rules over the planet.
They need a savior, Jesus.
They need you to calm their fears.
They need you to lean on in their dark times,
And to hold them through the tears.
They cry out to you, ‘Savior!’
Can you hear them calling now?
Can you see the pain depart from them,
By the marks on your back they’ll plow?
This is why the cup is yours;
You’re the only one who can free them.
There is no other way to rid this place,
Of the sin which causes so much mayhem.”
“ I see you are right (you always are),
This path is mine alone.
And because it’s your will to save these men,
I will be the way for them to atone.
I will be the lamb cut down and bled;
I will offer myself for their sake.
I will not deny them a chance at freedom,
I understand what difference it will make.
The time is coming now, my Father,
I will obey your greatest will.
Because I love them as much as you,
Of this cup I will drink my fill.”
