I knew I should read it, but I’d rather tear it into shreds and toss it aside never to be looked at again. I didn’t want to acknowledge it. Frankly, I didn’t want to accept it. That pathology report would tell the type of cancer, how big it was, and where it was located. It was the truth and I wasn’t ready. All the answers were right there in black ink. I just had not reached that level of acceptance..…yet.

We need to be open to the truth. We need to be prepared for the truth. It’s ok if we need more time. For those that have already walked the same path, I think we have an obligation to help others reach that point of acceptance. We all need help finding our way to the truth. It takes time and gentle reassurance for us to understand that truth and knowledge actually empower us.

The bible is much like that pathology report. We know we should read it, but it can be easily set aside. The truth is spoken right there in red ink. Our hearts need to be open to the possibility of God’s word. We fear the unknown, but once we are educated, we become curious to know more. Let’s all strive for guiding others to know God’s grace.

Titus 3:8 - This is a statement that can be trusted. I want you to insist on these things so that those who believe in God can concentrate on setting an example by doing good things. This is good and helps other people.

Dear Father in heaven, show us how to help others find you. Lead us to those that we can encourage. Bless all who are open to know you more. Amen.
