The passport laid there ready to be picked up. The picture taken, the information filled out. Someone had even paid for the ticket laying there on top. This passport was dusty, yellowed with age. It hadn’t been opened for years. It was just waiting for that person to use it.
This passport waits for “whosoever will”. When that willing person picks this special passport up – it’s theirs. It has their personal information in it.
“What about the ticket?” you ask. “Didn’t it expire years ago? Surely there’s no place that would accept something purchased so many years ago.” But yes – it’s still good. This ticket never expires.
This ticket was purchased over two thousand years ago by the Lord Jesus Christ, our Saviour. This ticket is free to all who chose to accept it. This wonderful ticket assures the person who possesses it a free trip to Heaven, to live for eternity. It’s simple acceptance that allows each person to receive the free ticket. However, the price the Christ paid for the ticket must be understood.
God knew that we (as sinners) could never be made clean enough in our own power to be worthy of Heaven. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23 (KJV). So He sent His Son, Jesus, to accept the punishment of our sins for us. Well – “the wages of sin is death” Romans 6:23 (KJV). So, Jesus had to die in our place, and He did. He was crucified on the cross over two thousand years ago for my sins and for yours. He shed His precious blood for the sinners of the world. Thank goodness, He didn’t just die; He rose again on the third day. Romans 10:9 (KJV)
God says in His Word, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13 (KJV). What an awesome plan! Christ took our punishment for us, so that we could live forever in Heaven with Him. Just to think that God loved me this much amazes me! What is even more amazing is that this plan is not just for me or for you, it’s for “whosoever will”.
That passport, with the free ticket on top waits for anyone and all.
“Whosoever will”. Will you?
