I use a cell phone, palm pilot, laptop, and all kinds of cordless phones and devices. I love the new technology, but it has produced a problem that may be going unseen.
People walk daily wanting that which they do not have. Many go deep into debt to get the latest of technology and some even get seriously depressed when they can’t get it.
Human desire runs wild.
We want more and more, yet forgetting the power of God’s Word and the importance of His Kingdom.
No technology can match God’s. He simply spoke, and the universe was created. He took dirt and created a human being, top that Bill Gates! We get so caught up in things that we forget that we have access to the highest of all technology, the technology of God’s Kingdom. He can save a sinner, empower believers; heal cancer, aids, M.S., all sickness, illness and disease.
Jesus can take our depression and turn it to joy, He can heal broken hearts, provide money even without a job, and bring blessings we could never even imagine, ask or think. There is no technology, science, or any other man made thing that can do what Jesus can do.
King David gives us the answer to our desires;
Psalm 37:1-4
1 A Psalm of David.
1 Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.
2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb.
3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
4 Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Envy and jealousy leaves when you recognize that those who obtain their desires via the ways of the world will come to an end they will not like.
David gives us an order to help us, he tells us to Trust in the Lord and do good. Many feel that you must step on anyone and everyone to get to where you want to be, but trusting the Lord and doing good takes faith in our Savior. Dwell in the land, feed on the things of God and watch Him be faithful in all things. Finally he tells us to make the Lord our delight and He will give us the desires of our heart.
You must know that when Jesus becomes that intimate with you to where you Trust Him, feed on His Word, and literally delight yourself in Him, who He is and what He does, you will not hold to the same desires that you once did. You will be anxious to see Him save your family and friends, and He will. You will stand and watch while He heals bodies, minds, and lives, and you will marvel. You can’t find that anywhere else but in Christ.
You can’t change your desires, but if you change who you trust and who you delight in, your desires will automatically change and you will have the desires of your heart.
