Several years ago while lying in bed I had a vision of the cross. Now I have had visions before of the cross, like when I saw a soldier standing beneath it looking up at the face of Jesus with an incredulous look upon his face. This vision was in spirit form, outlined in white and without colour. His expression could have been “Oh my God! He was really the Son of God! He was who he said he was!”
But this vision was so different because it was in colour. The cross came into my vision in a small window and as it came closer to me it grew larger. When the window stopped enlarging, I beheld the most wondrous sight I have ever seen. The cross-stood before me in all it’s incredible and spectacular wonder. Beauty and horror! The sky was almost pitch black, seconds after our Lord’s death. The cross was a dark wood, and just above the cross on the left side was a little bit of sky left, infused with a deep red, orange and blue colours. The colours reminded me of the sun setting at dusk!
What was so different about this vision was that I felt like I was there at the foot of the cross looking up into my Saviour’s face. The cross was so clear that I could almost make out the texture of the wood of the cross.
This vision has brought home the true meaning of the cross to me in a special way unlike any words could ever do.
