and they are not for good.
You want to keep me running.
You want to keep me hunting.
You want to keep me circling
round the truth.
Cause when I finally hit the wall
and come to face my fatal flaws
then all your lies will liquidate
like ice under summer sun.
I hear the truth in whispered wind
that I am free from all my sin
but still I strive to satisfy
the tree of knowledge good and bad.
I want to do it in my strength.
I want to justify my ends.
And you are very willing to extend
the lie that I can hide my shame
from Him.
I live in such a fallacy;
a mirage where I think I’m free
but really the walls you built
to hem me in are mountainous.
So why can’t I firmly grip
their craggy sides and climb up
high enough to see the other side?
Fear keeps me firmly fixed
behind the walls you created
with my consent;
with my hidden schemes;
where I think I am
the hero rescuing me.
But I can’t.
I admit defeat.
I am unable to hear or see,
to reason or debate.
I am but a sinner
in need of grace.
So, I stop running.
I stop hunting.
I stop circling round the truth.
I finally hit the wall and
crumple to the ground.
I hit the bottom.
I fall on the Rock.
But, instead of judgement
I am loved.
Instead of anger
I am lifted high above
the wall of lies and fear.
I am enclosed in arms of grace.
I'm now shielded from
your lies.
With mercy and compassion
I am held close enough to hear
The Father’s heart.
And from this place
of pure protection,
in His strength,
I'm now able
to finally say
Goodbye
