To call when I’m afraid,
Or I’m beset before, behind,
With troubles mankind made.
It’s God who knows my weaknesses,
My failures, every fault,
The times I did not make a choice
To do the things I ought.
Still He has come to rescue me
When I have done things wrong,
Forgiven me of all my sins
And left me with a song—
A song to praise Him for His power,
His mercy, and His grace,
His promises that on that day,
I’ll see Him face to face.
There’s lawlessness within our land,
Destruction unabated,
And violence from angry souls
As they spew out their hatred.
The lack of peace that’s in our world
Is from hearts filled with sin.
God made provision if they’d choose,
For cleansing from within.
Amid my fears of what might come
Before earth I depart,
The Lord’s my Savior and my Strength,
The Keeper of my heart.
