"Deep summer time is when laziness finds respectability." Sam Keen
So what about you? Are you experiencing the lazy days of summer or are you as busy as ever? For me, I always have great expectations for a nice relaxing summer, but things rarely end up as leisurely as I hope they will. I pray you find some time to relax with your family and enjoy the beauty of the season.
Be sure to check out the Out of the Mouths of FaithWriters section at the end of this newsletter to see what some of our fellow FaithWriters members will be doing this summer.
AND THE WINNER IS
For the past 12 months, FaithWriters member Ann Grover has enjoyed wearing the Writing Challenge Best of the Best crown. Ann took the title last year for her exceptional entry, No Man's Land (http://www.faithwriters.com/wc-article-level4-previous.php?id=35894). Now, one year and almost 2,000 Challenge entries later, it's time to crown a new champion.
As always, the competition this time around was stiff. There were many excellent entries, but, ultimately, three stood out above the rest.
And they are:
1ST PLACE This Cathedral for Boys, This Cathedral of Dreams by Jim McWhinnie
2ND PLACE My Name is Wachichi by Eliza Evans
3RD PLACE The Frog and the Leper by Melanie Kerr
Congratulations to all three of these talented writers!
Read an interview with new Best of the Best winner, Jim McWhinnie, to be posted soon (if it isn't already), at this link: http://www.faithwriters.com/wc-best-of-the-best-archives.php. Jim takes home a nice cash prize and has the honor of wearing the BoB crown for an entire year.
Another year of Weekly Writing Challenges kicks off this week (July 7th). Put yourself in the running for next year's Best of the Best! And, if you end up placing in the top 10 on any given week, you will be published in one of our FaithWriters anthologies! These books have been on hold for a bit, but will be resuming again very soon!
In addition, each week one winner is randomly selected from all of the entries to receive a free Challenge ratings feedback report. This information will help you as a writer and possibly increase your chances of placing higher in the Challenges. As previous recipients can attest, this ratings feedback report is a prize worth entering for!
Visit the official Challenge page for more information and for guidelines on choosing a level to enter: http://www.faithwriters.com/writing-challenge-intro.php
FAITHWRITERS CONFERENCE 2011
Have you registered yet for the FaithWriters conference? This year's lineup is better than ever and we would love to see you there! OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF FAITHWRITERS
Last month, I asked the following question:
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE SUMMER?
Here's what some of our fellow FaithWriters will be doing:
"We are about to fly to Ukraine in a few days. This will be our 10th. year to minister for a 3 week stretch. This is our major plan for the summer, and it will be hard to give this up. We have seen many give their hearts to Christ, and that is worth more to me than even winning a Faith Writer's challenge. (Can you believe that?)" - Verna Mull
"There have been countless times over the past 43 years of marriage to my husband Roger that I have heard my Lord whisper to me..."and I shall make for him a helper". This summer's activities began in April when Roger was diagnosed with esophageal cancer....I thank the Lord that I am that helper." Sandy Rietz
"In July I will be moving into the new home that God has so graciously blessed us with. I also plan to spend as much time as possible with my 10 year old son." - Leslie McCready
"Though we never would have envisioned it at the beginning of the year, on July 14th we will go to Japan to teach English as missionaries. Our hope is that your summer activities will include praying for God to do a mighty work." Patrick Verbeten
"Summer teacher: relax, recharge, remember what not to do in with next year's crop of students!" Susan Krumpfer
NEXT MONTH'S QUESTION:
BESIDES THE BIBLE, WHAT BOOK HAS IMPACTED YOUR LIFE THE MOST?
Send your brief response to FaithWriters.firstname.lastname@example.org. Please keep your answers to 1-2 sentences. Check back next month to see if your answer was selected to appear.
THANKS FOR CHOOSING FAITHWRITERS.COM. HOPE TO SEE YOU AT THE CONFERENCE! IN THE MEANTIME, KEEP WRITING FOR THE KINGDOM
