Second chance

Luna looks at the time anxiously. The day seems to drag on.
She can’t hide her excitement; she smiles at the thought of his touch. She’s thinking of his soft hands, his luscious lips.
Her phone starts vibrating on the desk. It’s her husband Alex calling. She doesn’t answer.
She hasn’t talked to him in 3 days. She has ignored his text massages also. He’s been staying at his mum’s for over a week now.
She’s confused. ‘Maybe we can still save our marriage’, she wonders. But how can she trust him again.
‘Maybe I should text Ryan and cancel. This is wrong, I can’t do this’, she thinks.
But he’s been so nice to her all this time; he’s very kind and supportive. She remembers Alex used to be the same, but he’s changed so much.
She gets a text from Ryan saying ‘I’m leaving now, you can go in about a half hour so it doesn’t look suspicious’
On the way to his apartment, Ryan decides to stop at the bottle shop and get some wine.
As soon as he walks in he realizes he’s got no idea what sort of wine she likes.
‘I’ll find something’, he thinks. He is staring at the wine selection trying to decide.
‘It’s hard to choose, isn’t it? What’s the occasion? A guy next to him asks.
‘I’m just trying to impress a woman, but I’ve got no idea what she likes. It’s our first date’
‘I’m getting Brown Brothers Lexia, my wife loves it! Maybe you could try that one, the stranger suggests.
‘Nah, I think I’ll stick to the Shiraz’ Ryan answers.
It’s 3:30 when Luna leaves the office. She stumbles into Rachel on the way out.
‘Hey is the accounts department going home early today?’
‘What do you mean? I’ve got a doctor’s appointment.
‘I saw Ryan leave earlier’ Rachel says
‘Oh! Really? I thought he was staying for the meeting. Ah well, he’s the boss’ says Luna
On the way to Ryan’s apartment, she stops at the intersection. While fixing her make up she notices her wedding ring.
‘What am I doing? This isn’t me, she thinks. The horn from the car behind her brings her back to reality. Instead of turning right to go to Ryan’s she keeps going straight.
She wanders around for a while, driving and thinking about her life, her marriage.
Her phone rings but she ignores it.
After about an hour she decides to go home and call Alex. After all, everyone deserves a second chance.
She’s surprised to see his car in the driveway. She walks in and the smell of garlic prawns welcomes her. The table is romantically set up with candles and a bunch of yellow roses, the ones she likes. A bottle of Lexia, her favorite, and 2 wine glasses.
Alex’s back home, cooking dinner for his wife, just as it should be.
