I wandered wordless deserts dry
Beneath a vacant voiceless sky;
It mattered little how I’d try,
Rhyme of worth was in short supply.
I entertained a fleeting whim,
An unexpected whispering,
A fickle foible on the wind
Gave inspiration to my pen.
A wave of lyrics came at first
As if a pent-up dam had burst
And dumped on me a flood of verse--
What joy to be in rhyme immersed!!
It’s now become a steady flow,
Safe waters where a poet can row,
In currents neither fast nor slow--
Long may these word-filled breezes blow!!
