"I went past the field of the sluggard, past the vineyard of the man who lacks judgment; thorns had come up everywhere, the ground was covered with weeds, and the stone wall was in ruins. (Proverbs 24: 30-31)

Almost all areas of our lives require maintenance, or "thorns will come up everywhere". This picture of a "sluggard", or a lazy person, is one of neglect due to bad judgment. The concept of "laziness" is almost foreign to our current culture, for we try to make excuses for our weeds and thorns. The facts of life, thought, are that neglect of proper stewardship of our lives will cause ruin, and will bring many pains. Thorns are interesting weeds, not only do they grow wild, they inflict pain. We need to weed our lives, pulling up the thorns by the roots, and making good ground.
