I know you feel like it was your fault and that your body will be "dirty" for ever.I know you might have a hard time trusting others. You may even feel a hatred for yourself, and try to escape the pain in a variety of ways.Let me tell you from experience- none of those methods work!How do I know this? I have been there.

I want so much to let you know there is hope!There really is!Since I am not a therapist, I can only tell you what has helped me.

1. I needed to deal with my feelings.This is not easy, and it can take time. Find someone you trust and has the abilty to work through the memories and emtotions.I needed to talk about what happened.I needed a professional because when I remembered it was as if it was happening right then!Not twenty years ago.

2. I evenntually realized it was NOT my fault.I may never understand why the people abused me,but I know I am loved and able to love.How do I know this? That is the third yet perhapes the most important step.

3. I developed a relationship with Jesus.I felt safe with him and knew I was loved. I knew he was with me when the abuse happened. He knew the pain. Does that mean I never had questions or wasn't angry at times? Of course I was!I told Jesus my questions and feelings. I was angry that he couldn't just tell the people to stop abusing me.It was a long time until I made peace with Jesus. But even during this time, I knew he would listen and hear my cries.I still loved him and knew he had a deep love for me.

4. I realized what was done to me did NOT make me dirty or my body dirty in ANY way!

5. I forgave the people who abused me. Really!That doesn't mean I forgot, it just means I realized they must have been very sick and I wasn't going to let what they did affect me for the rest of my life!That is the only way I found real peace.You may think you could never do that.I totaly understand that.But for me it has helped me live a full and joyful life.

I want to offer you hope.You CAN have a joyful life!You can! You are just as holy as when you were born.You have a friend in Jesus who will be with you every step of the way.I give you my love, and please have the peaceful life you dream of. It can happen!
