How Long, O Lord?

Psalm 13:1-6
How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and everyday have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?
Look on me and answer,O Lord my God.
Give light to my eyes or I will sleep in death,
My enemy will say “I will overcome him”,
And my foes will rejoice when I fall.
But I trust in your unfailing love
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord, for he has been good to me.

In the midst of great trial we tend to believe that God has withdrawn his hand from us that he has forsaken us. That is when doubt worms its way into our circumstance and produces negative thoughts which saturate our minds. This then creates a battlefield in our minds where it is the positive thoughts opposing the negative thoughts. The negative thoughts are the ones that the enemy is sowing into our minds in order to gain the upper hand and the positive thoughts are the ones God is trying to generate in our minds so that we can triumph over the enemy.

Impatience and desperation will creep in if we allow the negative thoughts to overrule us and it will seem as though God has forgotten us and is taking too long to deliver us from the circumstance that we find ourselves in. But it is when we choose to change our attitudes and begin to trust in Gods unfailing love and begin to magnify God and focus on the things that God has freely given us then we are paving the way for Gods deliverance

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope that we profess for he who has promised is faithful
