I was driving down Highway nine
Looking for a sign

Feeling lost and alone
Where had time gone

I pulled into the merge lane
And turned right on main

I drove past the diner
Passing the church on the corner

I drove around the block
Ending up at the Church on the Rock

I pulled into the parking lot
Why, I knew not

I sat in my car
Thinking and gazing at a star

Music caught my ear
My eyes began tear

They were singing “Rock of Ages”
Reminding me of the old hymnal pages

I thought back to childhood
When everything seemed right and good

I felt a stirring my soul
Burning like a hot coal

I got of my car
It seems that I was guided by that star

I quietly crept inside
Taking a seat on the outside

The preacher began to speak
With a manner mild and meek

Can’t say that I heard much he said
Don’t even recall the scripture he read

But when he delivered the altar call
My knees began to shake and I began to bawl

The organist played “A Little Talk with Jesus Makes it Right”
I knew it was time for that talk that night

I went out the door
Different than before
