The Life of Jacob

The Lord gave me a distinct revelation about the life of Jacob. Its one of the revelations I cherish so much because I have never heard anyone preach it. The Lord showed it to me and I am sharing it with you.

Jacob was a twin brother of Esau. His name is interpreted sup-planter or trickster. He grew up under the influence of his mum and dad. He was highly influenced by his mum and actually turned out to be a trickster just as his named portrayed him to be.

He was born in the twenty-first year of his parents marriage.

His dad, Isaac was 60 years old and his grand - dad, Abraham was 160 when he was born.

When he was 15, his grand-dad died. Abraham died at the age of 175.

When he was 40, his twin brother married two ladies. He remained single until years later.

When he was 63 years old, his half uncle, Ishmael died. Ishmael died at the age of 137.

When he was 71 years old, he left his dad and mum and went to his uncle Laban to pick a wife. Esau, his twin brother got married to his third wife just about that same period.

In that same year, he had his first major encounter with the LORD. It happened in Bethel as he journeyed to his uncle`s house. Gen 28:11-22


He served Laban for seven years and married his first wife, Leah at the age of 78 years old.
A week later he married Rachael his second wife but had to serve another 7 yrs for her.
Between the ages of 78 and 91 yrs old, he had eleven sons and a daughter through four women. His two wives and two concubines delivered them.

At age 91, he recorded his first major financial breakthrough. That same year was the year, Joseph was born. That same year, he left Laban after serving his for 20 years. That same year he wrestled with an Angel and was blessed and was named Israel by the Lord.

Sometimes later, his wife, Rachel gave birth to his last son, Benjamin and she died shortly after delivery.

When he was 108, his 11th son, Joseph was sold to slavery. Joseph was just 17 yrs old.

When he was 120, he and his brother Esau buried his dad, Isaac. Isaac died at 180 yrs old.

When Jacob was 121, his son Joseph became prime minister of Egypt.

At age 130, he saw his son Joseph again after 22 years.

At age 147, he died in Egypt.

So many things happened in Jacob`s life. In between the times mentioned above, as you meditate on the scriptures in Genesis. I pray you will see what I saw. Jacob loved Joseph and took care of him for the first 17 years of his life. Joseph was a child of his old age for he was born unto Jacob at age 91. Amazingly, Joseph also paid Jacob back by taking care of the old man for the last 17 years of his life. Jacob lived with him from when he was 130 yrs old to when he was 147 yrs old. Then he died. What a story ! Get your bible and begin to read. The bible has indeed come alive. May God bless you and open your eyes to see.
