TEMPER TANTRUM

Dear Lord, I must confess
I lost my temper yesterday.
Although for righteous reasons,
I let anger rule my way.
I need to ask forgiveness
from the victim of my wrath,
but pride and self-importance
are still standing in my path.

Oh, Jesus, love is missing
and I know this holds the clue.
Please take away my bitterness
and make me more like you-
slow to anger, quick to love,
are traits of your perfection.
Help me keep my eyes on you,
the cross, and resurrection.

Oh, thank you, God,
I feel your Spirit rising up within.
Thank you for the love
you’re pouring out to wash my sin.
I praise you for the strength
and power coming to my aid.
How glorious!
I now can fill the chasm that I made.
