You’d be startled, amazed, and the room would be flooded with light as He sits at the end of your bed. He’d be full of love and compassion as He says hello. Then maybe His eyebrows might narrow a little and He might frown slightly. What would He say then? Probably this:

“Do not be afraid. I am here just briefly, but I have a special message for you.

“Have you looked around lately at how the world is outside the church? It is no different than in the days of Noah. Have you noticed the ungodliness, the blaspheming of My name? They are not being told who I really am. In their eyes I am a vague, religious figure, unimportant. Yet the Father sent Me to save them. They do not know the price I paid to save them. They do not realise the price they will have to pay for ignoring Me. They do not know about the lake of fire.” Then He might stare at you with piercing eyes and say:

“You are religious, you go to church, you are involved. You go to church socials, you are in the choir and sing hymns heartily, such as ‘Stand up, stand up for Jesus’ The problem is you don’t do it. Why are you not telling the people? Did I not instruct you in My Word?

“Today you are My apostle, My disciple. The others are gone – Paul, Stephen, Silas, Barnabus. They did as I told them but they are in heaven with Me. You are here on earth. You have the task. The world will not know except through you. Many will perish, nevertheless you are to be my messenger.

“Look at the people. They live for today with no thought for eternity. They buy and sell and pursue pleasure. You must give them a different message. You must tell them I hate sin, and will not tolerate such. You must tell them of where it will lead, no matter what they may say. You must tell them I do not want them to perish. I want to save them, offer forgiveness and a new start.

“I am going now, but be bold, have courage. All My promises are backing you. Remember, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Take heed of My words. You can speak of this to other believers and tell them what I said.”

Then He is gone as quickly as the snuffing of a candle, and you sit astonished in the darkness and reflect on what He said.
