Our path has brought us one sixth of the way through the book of psalms, about the same portion of a lifetime allotted to childhood. We have been through the cycle of six lessons four times and now, for the fourth time we are shown a view of the kingdom that we have been seeking. This time the viewpoint is different, we are on the inside looking out.





28. The Enemy’s Weakness

I will call out to You, O Lord my rock; don’t be silent. Without your guidance I would become like those who are lost to the pit. Hear my voice and know what I lack, when I cry out to You and hold out my hands to receive your instruction. Don’t let me be swayed by liars and trouble makers, who speak of peace but mischief is in their hearts. Give to them according to their deeds and let the trouble they cause come down on them; give them what they make.

Because they don’t pay attention, they don’t see how the Lord’s instruction works. They don’t grow or gain real power; so when the time comes, they will be destroyed. The Lord blesses me because he has heard my voice and my questions. He is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts Him and I am helped. It makes me full of joy, and this lesson I sing as my song of praise.

The Lord is our strength; He is the saving strength of his chosen few. Save us and bless your inheritance; feed us also and lift us up forever.




Three times before we have seen visions of the Kingdom. Psalm seven introduced us to the idea of our becoming the Kingdom and the value of praise. Psalm fourteen showed us the truth of the King and twenty-one was the spirit of the King who lives in us. Now school is over and we are back in the world of evil men and we are seeing how the process works, both in the world and inside of us. We have learned how to ride a bike and have been given the keys to the car. We praise God’s name always as our source of strength and guidance and now we face our daily challenges. We have weakness but so do our enemies. It has been said that to know one's strengths is a great asset, but to know one's weaknesses is treasure.

We call out for help and receive instruction, making us able to resist. They make trouble because they do not pay attention and so they fall into the traps they make. They do not want the salvation only God can bring and so they cannot grow and are destroyed. We find blessings in our seeking, leaning on the higher power that lifts us up. We face the ordinary world every day but we are also in the Kingdom and the Kingdom is in us.
