I stood at the byways
Calling to the passers-by as they headed down the busy road of life.
Some stopped to chat
Some laughed and shrugged off my call.
Others shook angry fists and gestured their disgust.

I called.
I called in the mornings during rush hour, when the busy pace drowned out my voice.
I called at the noontime when the busy-ness of lunch obscured my message.
I called, in the tedium of chores, but monotony made it hard to hear my voice.
I called in the evening when the house was silent and sleep eluded my people.

I called…. Come. Draw aside and hear the joyful message of truth.

I called…. Come. Lay down your burdens that we might pick them up together.

I called …. Let me help you make sense of the world around you.

I call …. Every day I am here, calling out your name, whispering to your soul to come to me. I am here, ready to fill you with understanding, to explain the mysteries of life to you. I am here, just be still and listen. Dare to stop the treadmill of life, and turn down the volume on the interruptions.

Come, walk with me, and together let’s make sense of your life.
