So you think God is unfair because He said no to you winning the lottery, and spending all that money any way you want to.

And why is it that you had to lose money in the financial crisis (even though it is affecting everyone else too)?

And you think He is unfair for not letting you be that famous rock musician, writer, race car driver, artist, inventor, ballet dancer etc that you always wanted to be...

How mean it was of Him to say no to that wonderful heartthrob of yours who only had a few eensy weensy flaws, and who you know was almost perfect for you.

It was mean of God to put you in the family you were born into,
In the body you are stuck with,
In the city you reside in,
And in the country where you are right now.

Or was that all coincidence?

Are the circumstances that gnaw at you God’s fault, or God’s provision?

Do you think that sometimes God says no to something that looks “good” – at least to us – so that we might have what is better, no, what is best, for us?

God wants us to rely on Him – not the lottery, not our careers or ambitions (notice the key word in that sentence above was “famous”). God is not against any of those things in the list – but the point was striving to become famous.

God does not even want us to rely on our heart-throbs – He wants us to lean on Him.

My God shall supply all my needs, according to His richness, His resources. He is the supplier, the sustainer. All that He asks is that we seek Him first.

You see, we serve a God who most definitely dwells in the details of our lives.

Instead of cursing where you were born, or into what family, or even why you were born, ask Him, instead, to help you rejoice and rededicate your life (or perhaps dedicate it for the first time) to Him. When we stop shaking our fists at Him, or indulging in pitty parties, lamenting our sorry lot in life, then we can become available to an amazing God. We can begin to live our lives on purpose, and that purpose is to glorify God. When we live lives that glorify Him, then He can begin to use us to draw others to Himself.
