THE FORTRESS…By Felix Obi

We shall all face trying moments in life

The wave may thrust us into mid air

Despairing moments may linger around

And our hopes choked and sniffled out

Our compartmentalized lives may be sieged

Dark clouds may shield the rays

That illumine our hearts in troubled times

Leaving us in utter bewilderment

When briers and thistles tear the flesh,

To whom do I run to for succour?

When hoary hairs abound and my strength fails

Who then can cuddle and prop me up?

When death looms and decay apparent,

When friends desert em and lovers scram,

When it seems life is no longer bearable,

When it seems like all hope is gone,

Where then shall I draw my strength?

Yeah, with a lithe face will I rejoice in God!

He alone is my Rock, and my Salvation

He’s my Fortress, and I will never be shaken

For He will bear me safe thro’ the storms of life

And upon His wings will I coast home

To the warmth and comfort of His presence

And in God alone will my soul find rest!!
