Gen.18:14 Is any thing too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.

Explanation: This is a “rhetorical statement”. That is, the question is redundant; it answers its own question. One of the great attributes of God is what we call “omnipotence”. He is all mighty, fully capable.

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Question: Are there any other lessons in this Word for me today?

Application: God is still all-powerful. He never changes. The great message of the Bible is not that God exists. The real message of God’s Word is that He cares.

Question: If I don’t apply this truth in my life, what will be the consequence?

Supplication: Almighty God, the same yesterday, today and forever forgive me for being so subject to change. Meet me in the hard places in my life with Your unchanging love and power. Help me to be more stable knowing that You will keep Your promises to all who trust in You. In Jesus’ Name, amen.

Follow up Question: What more do I need to confess today? Pray about?

Affirmation: I trust implicitly in the power and the mercy of my heavenly Father. He not only can do what is good and right, He will do what is good and right. I believe God is still a miracle working God!

Question: Is there anything in my life that will keep me from honoring this commitment? What will I do about it?
