at the living creatures,
I saw a wheel upon
the earth......their
appearance was like
the gleaming of a
chrysolite....
the four wheels
had rims
and they had spokes;
and their rims
were full of
eyes.

"What IS this ABOUT,
LORD?"

"What kind'a MONSTERS,
ARE these?"

[CHUCKLE.]

"Yikes!
I thought angels.....were
like, real PRETTY?"

"How so,
child?"

"Well........certainly,
not like THIS:

And this was
their appearance;
they had the form
of men, but each
had four faces.....
and each...had
four wings.....
the soles of their
feet like the sole
of a calf's foot....
....each had the
face of a man.....
a lion....an ox...
and....an eagle.
[Ezekiel 1:5-10]

EEEEK!"

[SMILE.]

"How GROTESQUE!"
(Puzzled squint.)
"I thought.....Ya know:
angels were all pretty,
and blond, and TALL?
(Thoughtful squint.)
"And......had these real
pretty DRESSES on?"

[GENTLE SMILE.]
"Why are you reading
this Part,
My child?"

"HUH?"
(Squint up at ceiling.)
"Eh......I dunno;
I saw a line from it,
during a Bible study,
and I thought it was
FUNNY!"

[PATIENT NOD.]

"What's with the WHEELS?
I thought.....ANGELS could
FLY?"

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"Ya AIN'T gonna
TELL me.......
ARE Ya?"

"It is a Mystery,
My child."

(Distasteful grimmace!)
"YECH!
It's really somethin'
made up from
'The TWILIGHT Zone'*!
YICH!"

[PATIENT GAZE.]
[WATCH ONE OF THE
SAND STORMS ON MARS.]

"That's really DISGUSTING,
LORD!
(Grimmace up at ceiling.)
MICHAEL doesn't look
like that......DOES HE?"

[PATIENT SIGH.]

"Well.....cuz, I always pictured
him to be.....sort of HANDSOME,
and Ya know: real CUTE
LOOKIN'!"

[SIGH.]

(Thoughtful gaze.)
"Though not blond.......
but with real dark, curly hair;
and, he's REAL BIG
AND MUSCULAR!"

"Go to bed, child."

(Gaze at a spot on the wall.)
"Yeah......and, he's got
these HUGE WINGS!"

[PATIENT SHAKE OF THE HEAD.]
[LISTEN TO THE ROARING OF
NIAGRA FALLS: BOTH THE
AMERICAN AND THE CANADIAN SIDES.]

"And, he's carrying these
real BIG SWORDS!"

"Sleep, child."

"Well.....HECK, LORD!
I'm over fifty........
I ain't DEAD!"

[SOFT CHUCKLE.]
"What does this have
to do with My Word,
child?"

"Ya mean: EZEKIEL?"

[CALM, PATIENT NOD.]

"NOTHIN'."
(Thoughtful pause.)
"I just wanted to tell
Ya, how much this
part really WEIRDED**
me out, is all!"

"I understand."

"Ya DO?"
(Squint.)
"Well, THAT'S
even WEIRDER."

[CHUCKLE.]

"Hey, L....O....R.....D?"
(Gaze hopefully up at ceiling.)
"Am I ever gonna MEET
Archangel MICHAEL,
some DAY?"

"We'll see,
precious."

"AW!
(Woe-be-gone look.)
COME ON!
PRETTY PLEASE?"

[GENTLE VOICE.]
"In the meantime,
child."

"YEAH?"

"Keep reading
My Word."

of the living creatures
there was the likeness
of a firmament,
shining like crystal...
and when they went,
I heard the sound
of their wings
like the sound
of many waters,
like the thunder
of the
Almighty.
