I was having lunch with my daughter at a local restaurant, enjoying our conversation and fellowship, when suddenly a commotion started at a nearby table. A couple was there with their toddler, probably just under 3 years old. The toddler had been demanding and pouting off and on for the prior few minutes. Now, the child suddenly reached across the table and grabbed for the mother’s beverage, spilling some of it. Mama quickly retrieved the drink, and said "Now see what you've done?"... the child hollered "You did it!" and made a fast reach for the dad’s iced tea, hollering “Gimmee!!!”. Mom caught the child mid-grab and said “No, you have to asked your father for it.” The Dad, seeing an opportunity to train his child, answered, "I would love to give you something to drink, but you must ask me nicely for it.” ……

Just then, the Lord seemed to whisper to me: “I feel the same way. It is when my children are grabby and demanding that I cannot just bless them like I long to. You make messes and I get blamed. Oh, I have so many perfect and wonderful things I would love to bless you with, but you grab. Or you cry and demand…. All you simply have to do is ASK. No good and perfect thing will I withhold….. you have not because you ask not, or you ask with selfish hearts."
