JN 15:5"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. NIV

Is it God or me? The answer is yes. It’s both, because both are inhabiting the same temple. If it’s in our hearts to do good, then do that which seems good to us and let God anoint our feeble attempts at “doing good” into His work.

I get caught in “Is it God or is it me?” when I should not be afraid to be myself. He redeemed me and he is redeeming me, but I need not fear being who I am while under reconstruction. God is pleased to dwell with and in me, to come along what it is I am doing, and to make who I am – and what I do – so much more than what I could imagine.

But it begins with not being afraid to be who we are and who God made us to be. We can confidently, then, pluck the flowers from the gardens of our hearts to share with others, because we know that God has been and is and remains the husbandman of our garden. And that God will take our slim offerings of love to each other and empower them with His life, so that from a little, He makes a lot. Remember the fish and two loaves that fed not five, not fifty, not five hundred, but five thousand, all from one little boy’s lunch.

Imagine what He could do with a living heart.
