Oh Lord my God

I have held the hands of those I loved when taken to your throne above
I've kissed the cheeks now grown cold their spirits taken to the fold.
I've seen so much in time spent here and memories that I hold so dear.

There is much I cannot understand as you lead me by my hand
But not one time do I regret the path for me that you have set.
Many times I have failed to hold fast to that holy trail
But went my way sheep gone astray
But you always brought me back and set me on the proper track.

Some times I weep with anguish deep and question all my loss
But you set my sight on higher ground to see the glory all around.
I'll follow Lord though eyes are blind in faith I know that you are kind
You'll never lead me to stray as long as I will always pray.

I've held the hand of my son just born shared with him his first bright morn
Beheld the work of your hands and tried to follow your great plan.
I've failed all through the tests you've gave from my birth right to the grave
But your grace has seen me through the stormy nights and skies of blue.

You knew me long before this time when forming me with love divine
You knew the pattern of my life you knew the tears and all the strife.
You planned the part my life would play and guided me through all the way.

Your love has covered my mistakes when I repent your hand I take
So I'll travel on another mile and you'll be with me all the while.
You'll wipe away each tear I shed until this body too lies dead
And then you'll lead me to the throne from whence we came where we belong.

From there we view the reasons why we were born and had to die
We'll see the picture oh so clear and hold the lessons learned so dear.
We see it all so dimly now but then we'll know the why and how
We'll see the part in life we played when it's pattern is displayed.
