Danny, this seemed the perfect time
And too long overdue,
To take a moment to tell you son,
How proud I am of you.

My father always had a wish
For a son to call his own,
But, God blessed him with three little girls.
Then, too soon my dad was gone.

I told my mom, when I was eight,
With my heart filled up with joy,
Someday I know I’ll have a son,
And I’ll call him “Danny Boy.”

God granted me that special wish,
And as I’ve watched you grow,
My little boy has become a man
That’s truly a joy to know.

Its funny how in so many ways
You remind me of my dad,
Everything from his beautiful smile
To those “smiling eyes” he had.

Such a dedicated father you are,
And such a hard-worker, too.
You’re always there when needed
By the ones that count on you.

I love you, now and always,
Though miles keep us apart.
There’s always a place for “Danny Boy”
In the center of my heart.
