Rescue me, my Lord, from the depths of this despair.
My spirit longs to rejoice, but I am weighted down by the hopelessness around me.
It is a tangible foe, tethering my arms that long to praise you.

Lord, set me free!
Come, recalibrate this wounded heart,
Resuscitate my spirit, that I might find joy again,
For joy eludes me.

Life – what is it? Is it merely a series of trials with occasional bouts of happiness?
Lord, if this is all there is, I want more!
This dungeon of captivity is not enough.
I look around your world and have to believe that you intended much, much more for us.

We are not a random accident,
or slime evolving,
Or particles colliding.

You set the world in motion,
You painted the skies and hung the planets in place
You made the air, and the plants and the water to sustain life.
And into mankind You breathed life, life for a purpose.

Lord, I implore you, come and show me the purpose of my life afresh.
Breathe new life in me.
