Weight Loss Begin with Positive Speech

Did you know that the words you say to yourself and to others can affect your weight loss success?

David prayed to God that the words of his mouth and the meditation of his heart would
be pleasing in the Lord’s sight (Psalm 19:13-14).

Let that be your prayer also. Often times, without even being aware of what we’re saying, we hamper our own success by speaking against that which we actually want.

The word of God instructs us to speak those things that are not, as though they were. Unfortunately, most of us do the exact opposite. We speak against what we want, rather than verbalizing what we actually do want. That is a confusing message to God because our hearts say one thing yet our mouth seems to be literally canceling out the request. James 1:7 tells us that God does not answer these types of requests.

Speak the word of God over your life. Partner with the Holy Spirit to help you lose weight. Cry out to God and let Him know that you want to glorify Him through your body, your mind and your spirit.

When Jesus was being tempted in the desert, He said that man shall not live by bread alone but on every word that comes out of the mouth of God (Matt. 4:4). What we say can give us life!

Ask the Holy Spirit to make you more conscious of the negative words that you speak.

To begin this practice, start by becoming more mindful of many of the words that hinder your weight loss success. Avoid using words like:
• but
• no
• can't
• I don't know
• difficult, hard, impossible
• try
• I know, but…

Use positive words and thoughts, and with God’s help you will find the strength and wisdom you need for your weight-loss success. Begin to use words like I declare, I am and I have.

I wish you all the best in your health and fitness program.
