Forgive me if I'm not as you think I should be,
But I'm striving to allow God to mold me
Into a vessel, an instrument for His use,
And I refuse to call a truce
Between the good and bad within my heart, mind and soul
Because I have an eternal goal,
Which is to reign with Christ
Regardless of the relationships I must sacrifice.
Forgive me if I disregard you,
And all your efforts, and all that you do
To hinder me or pull me astray,
But I'm more interested in the day
That will come at the end of this life
Removing me from all pain, misery and strife.
Excuse me if your words don't seem to get me down,
But there is a great sense of peace I've found
In knowing God and what He's making me to be,
And I know it may be very difficult for you to see
Because you're focused on who I am in this flesh,
But I'm focused on who I must become to gain eternal rest.
Excuse me as I go around your stumbling blocks
And as my prayers shield off those rocks
You have chosen to throw;
For, God has given me enough wisdom to know
That the weapons you form will have no effect
Because all of your efforts God will reject
And cause them to fail,
Letting you know that you will not prevail
Because He is my protector, my all and all,
And He will answer my every call.
So, pardon me as I stroll on down the streets
Of pressing on and overcoming; for, at the end I will meet
"VICTORY", and from there, I will walk hand-in-hand
With the Father into the Promised Land.
