I greeted you on the surface,
When you came to meet my need,
And thought it rather strange,
You attempted not this deed.

You seemed to roughly recoil,
Yet politely chose to stay.
That's when I begged fulfillment,
Then you promptly walked away.

I heard the voice of Jesus --
"True love you must impart.
Get rid of selfish ego,
And let Me touch your heart."

"If pain be your abiding,
And pain be in your brother,
My love mends hearts together,
When you live for one another."

To love and share the harvest,
In the plenty of the vine,
Means I'll meet you deeply,
To claim your life as mine.

The frightening fear of rejection,
Is weighted by its length,
For only when we give our need,
Can love become our strength.

In victory, we will seek to share,
Life's delicate balance of living,
That says, "Hello my hurting brother,
Let's join ourselves through giving."
